Huntingdon gymnast Marissa King has been named as one of six ladies to fly the GB flag at the Olympics.
Her selection follows her all-round performance at the British Women's Gymnastics Championships in Guildford last weekend.
The Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club star will join clubmates Louis Smith and Daniel Keating in Beijing.
And Kayleigh Cooke from St Ives will also be on the plane as travelling reserve, following a bronze medal performance on the floor at last weekend's event.
King, 17, and Cooke, 16, endured a gruelling six-week selection process that involved three international meets and three control events, that ended at the Guildford spectrum on Sunday when the team was announced in front of more than 1,000 spectators and the assembled media.
The other team GB members are: Beth Tweddle (Liverpool), Hannah Whelan (Liverpool), Becky Downie (Notts), Laura Jones (Notts) and Rebecca Wing (Heathrow).
Huntingdon coaches Paul Hall and Monica Boru will also be travelling, bringing the total Huntingdon delegation heading east to an amazing six people.
The club will now be in the unique position of fielding both male and female gymnasts at the Olympic Games, marking the culmination of many years of effort from staff and volunteers at the purpose-built facility in Claytons Way.
Head coach Paul Hall was delighted at the announcement, and said: "This is an unprecedented achievement and the result of many years of hard work from coaches, gymnasts, and support staff at the club.
" To have six Huntingdon members making the trip with three gymnasts in the actual games is a dream come true and we must now prepare effectively for the best possible result in Beijing."
The girls squad will now centralise at a national camp in Shropshire before flying out to the BOA holding camp in Macau later in July.
The boys meanwhile will prepare for an international event in Germany and then fly on to the Games Village at the end of the month.
