The behaviour of pupils is one area which has improved at a school in Hemingford thanks to the unwavering focus of its headteacher, a Government inspector has reported.
In a recent visit from Ofsted - the Office for Standards in Education - to Hemingford Grey Primary School, inspectors said headteacher Kate Fox had a real focus on raising standards.

And thanks to Mrs Fox's dedication to the school, teaching had become more effective and behaviour of the 228 pupils had improved.
In the report, the inspector said: "The school is well led and managed by a capable and extremely focused headteacher who is able to prioritise improvement well.

"She leads very much from the front and as a result is well known to the pupils and parents, and highly respected by the staff. She enjoys the full support of a committed and hard working staff and governing body.

"The senior leadership team provides good leadership and management of the school, setting a high standard through their own very good classroom practice."

Teaching and learning were described as good throughout the school – and at times excellent. Inspectors said that as a result, pupils made good progress and thoroughly enjoyed their lessons.

The school was encouraged to further improve standards of writing and to make more effective use of the area outside the reception class as an extension of the classroom.

Mrs Fox said: "This report reflects the total commitment of the whole school community to providing a quality all-round education for the pupils who come here.

"Many thanks to parents and carers who are so supportive of our school. Huge thanks also to all staff and governors at school for their continued dedication and hard work - but especially to the pupils, who demonstrated during the inspection why they regularly receive so much praise from those who visit our school.

"We should all be very proud of our school."
